Magnetic Flux

The total number of magnetic lines of force passing through a given area normally is called the magnetic flux. Mathematically magnetic flux is the scalar product of magnetic field strength and area vector, i.e.,

If area the magnetic field varies from point to point and is small surface element where the magnetic field strength is , then magnetic flux

where integral extends over entire surface. The S.I. unit of magnetic flux is weber (Wb). Magnetic flux is a scalar quantity.
